Begin with the trip you remember
A car accident account starts before the moment of impact. Explain where you were going, which direction you were traveling, and whether you were a driver or passenger. If you remember a turn, lane change, traffic signal, or nearby sign, include it as part of your recollection. Avoid making the account sound more certain than the information you actually have.
For a Bossier City collision, record the precise location from your documents when available. The place of the crash may differ from where you later spoke with an officer or where a vehicle was taken. Distinguish those locations in your notes. The office can ask follow-up questions without requiring you to reconstruct every detail on your own.
Give each document a place in the timeline
Set aside the materials created at the scene, then the records and correspondence received afterward. A photo of the vehicles, an incident reference, an insurance letter, and a repair estimate answer different questions. Keep originals where possible and label the date received. If a document contains a date for a response, bring that date to the office's attention.
Make a short contact list for the people who have called or written about the collision. Include their company, the claim reference they used, and what they requested. If you already answered questions or signed a document, identify that clearly. A consultation can address the materials as they exist, including actions already taken.
A passenger may have different information
If you were a passenger, your account may focus on what you saw or heard from your seat rather than on driving decisions. Explain where you were sitting and whether you knew the driver. Bring any messages or trip information already in your possession. You need not adopt another person's explanation simply because you shared the vehicle.
When several occupants are discussing an accident, keep individual recollections separate. Identify which statements are yours and which came from someone else. Ask the office how each person's circumstances should be discussed. This page cannot determine fault, insurance coverage, or whether people involved in the same collision should seek separate advice.
Arrange the conversation from Bossier City
Todd's automobile accident practice serves clients across Louisiana from Shreveport. The office address is 400 Travis St, Shreveport, LA 71101; this page does not announce a Bossier City location. Call before visiting to ask about appointment arrangements and which documents would help. Include the collision date even if your immediate question concerns a letter you received much later.
You can use the contact page for a short request to speak with the office. Save detailed medical records and other private information for an appropriate exchange after asking how to provide them. A contact request is a beginning, so ask how the office will confirm whether it can take the matter and what you should do with later correspondence.
Act 423 of the 2024 legislative session created Civil Code article 3493.1 and extended it to two years, effective July 1, 2024.
This sentence comes from the firm's Louisiana injury deadline article. Bring the actual incident date and any notices to a consultation; general information cannot determine the timing for your individual circumstances.
